5 things truly confident people do differently

True confidence, as opposed to the false confidence people project to mask their insecurities, has a look all its own. One thing is certain: truly confident people always have the upper hand over the doubtful and the skittish because they inspire others and they make things happen.

Confident people are more likely to be great inventors, make impressions on the world at large and they think much larger than people who aren’t. They are the ones who are being promoted and earning more money.

And while what people are influenced by changes with the season, the unique habits of truly confident people remain constant. Their focused pursuit is driven by these habits that you can emulate and absorb:

1. They seek out small victories: Confident people like to challenge themselves and compete, even when their efforts yield small victories. Small victories build new androgen receptors in the areas of the brain responsible for reward and motivation.
The increase in androgen receptors increases the influence of testosterone, which further increases their confidence and eagerness to tackle future challenges. When you have a series of small victories, the boost in your confidence can last for months.

2. They are not judgmental: People who are confident do not have the time to be trying to tear others down. They see people as people and know that everyone is very special and have something special to offer. They are so confident that they do not need to tear people down to feel good about themselves. Confident people do not get any gratification in making other people unhappy or insecure.

3. They get their happiness from within: Happiness is a critical element of confidence, because in order to be confident in what you do, you have to be happy with who you are. People who brim with confidence derive their sense of pleasure and satisfaction from their own accomplishments, as opposed to what other people think of their accomplishments.

4. They listen attentively: Confident people listen very attentively and speak less than others. Since they have nothing to prove, they do not need to convince anyone that they know what they are talking about. They let their work speak for them. They are that confident. They are also fully aware that listening is a great way to learn, and confident people make an effort to learn something new constantly.

5. They aren’t afraid to ask for help: Confident people know that asking other people for help won’t make them seem weak or unintelligent. They know their strengths and weaknesses and they look to others to fill the gaps. They also know that learning from someone with more expertise is a great way to improve.
