FANNY SANIN

NEW YORK, NY.- Frederico Sève Gallery is presenting Drawings and Studies 1960 to Now, a retrospective of the works on paper by Fanny Sanín that can be seen at the gallery through April 28. The Colombian-born, now American artist is best known for her symmetrical, geometric abstract paintings in oil and acrylic on canvas. This exhibition provides an illuminating history and insights into the methodical process leading to Sanin's larger paintings on canvas. While each drawing can be appreciated on its own, the suites of drawings that she generates for each of her final composition evince her intricate thought process using a variety of drawing media on paper to build her final compositions. LUCIA NEBEL (Colombia)

Lucia Nebel painter and sculptor demonstrates unassuming techniques emphasizing the simplicity of form found similar to the work of pre Columbian artifacts . This new group of works series “Huellas ” (tracks) underscores the development of Nebel´s disciplined approach to sculpture. Recurring symbolic forms of abstract geometry are continually re-composed and re-contextualized to conjure, through relationship of color, creating a new consciousness of artistic-cultural identity texture, and proportion, references as diverse as pre-columbian culture and art history.

The Poporo Quimbaya with oddly minimalistic lines, is one of the most recognized pre-columbian artpieces, being often used as a symbol of the indigenous culture. Its primary use was as a ceremonial device for chewing of coca leaves during religious ceremonies. Their profound concepts of metaphysics and universality, and the geometric structures that relate to each other in the style, schematic images, symbols the abstract man, heart (feeling), the triangle (proportion, harmony), the sun (light, Unity).

The straight line dominates in pre Columbian shapes (forms). A tension between the geometric and the biomorphic, shadow and space as well as color in Lucia´s composition and the warm patinas, volume and space are beautiful. The various shapes of “Huellas” give the bronze sculpture a magnificent atmosphere, in the past 50 years, the world bronze works of art are in the best return on investment. Her work is in Colombia, Ecuador, USA, China, Japan and Italy. She had won several deserved awards and honors.

Patricia Esguerra (Colombia)

“Micromundo”

Patricia is a tremendous sculptor who has earned an international reputation for creating spectacular, unique & wondrous sculpture for 100´s of public, corporate and private settings. Her sense of scale, material, content and form establish dynamic interactions for her sculpture with natural and architectural environs.

Three dimensions are real space, space in and around marks and colors , which is riddance of one of the most salient and most objectionable art relics. Actual space is intrinsically more powerful and specific than paint on a flat surface. Stainless steel is hard, bright and modern sculpture material. It is laser cut which leaves perfectly circle surfaces to the plate. Another element about stainless steel is its surface. Bright and readily present to add your own choice of finish.

Revised by displacing the shape into single forms which operate in displacing space by positive and negative components reacting against each other causing movement. Modernism has always reflected the highest level of functionality. It seems that modern art has always moved in and out from simple to more complex modes throughout history. , "New Modernism" , creates works of art that bring a feeling of life and quiet energy to both indoor and outdoor spaces. A wonderful sense of intimacy is created for viewers as they observe the large, flowing shapes held firmly into positions that defy gravity. These large scale and table top sized stainless steel sculptures are distinguished by their smooth, graceful edges and seamless metal intersections, revealing the high caliber welding involved. The swirl patters on the stainless steel, the outer light and reflections are distinct of Patricia Esguerra.

Today, her works can be found in private collections throughout Europe, Australia , U.S.A and Latin America.

Omar Enrique Guio (Colombia)

“Human Landscape Series”

Omar Enrique Guio is a talented artist with a unique and refreshing style. This series explores the relationship among women and 21st century life. A great awareness of the beauty of nature can evoke strong images and emotions. Life is a gift - if we can learn to appreciate all the wonderful things it offers. In all his work, Omar drew upon the influence and inspiration of life itself.

Omar’s abstract paintings have universal appeal, despite acquiring a newly cultured look, these landscapes, made with serenity and attention , are transformed into a juxtaposition of nature and its human invaders. His work may remain totally abstract or venture into landscape suggestions . It is a work open to multiple readings connecting the personal to the collective, the experiential to fantasy, fiction to reality, identity to otherness. Color and movement can both describe and possibly induce a state to attract a natural rather than constructed rhythm from the composition, the explicit use of color and the pervasive luminosity.

1 st prize at the 16 th Rotary Salon.

Today, his works can be found in private collections throughout USA, Canada, France, Austria and Germany.

Pablo Martin Zapata (Colombia)

In the abstract images of Colombian artist Pablo Zapata, visions of color and movement converge to create unexpected configurations of line and form. At first glance, his abstract images seem simple, yet there is a complexity inherent in the manner in which everything comes together, creating an extraordinary synchronicity that speaks of a depth of meaning and purpose in each of his works.

In Zapata´s art anyone can connect regardless of background or intent. For him, the representational aspect of painting is less important than his interpretation of the reality of the emotive force the thing contains . The simultaneous combined effect of interacting elements in his paintings besiege the viewer with feelings. Expressing not only space itself but also the timeless play of space and energy, space continually gives birth to energy and energy dissolves into space , energy sparkles as a few small diversified shapes in strikingly bright colors. His art uses shape, color and, later, texture and the movement of paint to evoke a world of emotion and imagination.

By -2011s he had forged a distinctive personal style which advanced a startling use of simple shapes and high-key color. These paintings defied the modernist insistence on a flat picture surface. Instead they emphasized the illusion of space. His art has been featured in several art galleries in the Unites States and Colombia

Roger Rodriguez (Colombia)

Rodriguez ‘s particular ability to evoke the marvellous, to incite the emotions of wonder, surprise and astonishment leading to curiosity and then learning is based on his ability to draw parallels of human knowledge like Science and Art..

These vertical abstracts Colors and light form the basis for the abstract pieces he paints where elemental surfaces embody passionate moods and tranquil atmospheres.

If Rodriguez recalls the visual direction through joyful color hues, light covers his structural models, wraps them in prospectus space, evokes natural images opened to charming paths.. These vision of the world flow together in the constant evolution that qualifies his research animated by lines, points, modulations similar to natural movements. It is the outcome of his effort to gently offer the sweet sensation of time and the natural contribution to a long term project developed on color stratification.

Rodriguez´s uses rapid flashes of varying frequencies of light to capture the unpredictable patterns of falling water, record the concentric rings caused by water droplets in such detail, they seem more like the vibrations atomic particles.
His work is in private collections .
