Support for Katy Perry has block the scandal’s attention

The model John Kloss, the protagonist of Teenage Dream's music video of the pop singer, announced through his social media that the singer had humiliated and harassed him at a party in 2009.

These cases, in which some secondary actor, dancer or model accuses years later some sexual assault by recognized celebrities, often happen in Hollywood. When they happen, the criticism does not stop and the celebrities end up condemned before any judge determines the veracity of the accusations.

This happened with the House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey, and with Ed Westwick, who played the role of Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl, among many other celebrities who have been harmed from this type of scandal.

In Spacey's case, his professional life was immediately affected, when the directors removed him from the successful series where he portrayed Frank Underwood, the main role. This, plus public derision, meant that years later the complaints were withdrawn.

In Katy Perry's case, the story was different. Hundreds of fans rushed to defend her and, without knowing what could happen legally, many have gone against Kloss.

In his Instagram, the actor and model assured that he had a short and informal relationship with Perry and that in intimacy things worked delicately. However, in public, he must be assertive to the treatment she gave him because he must protect her image above his. That led him "in return treated like a prostitute and exposed in front of a group of her friends and other random people."

I was supposed to minimize myself and stay PC to protect her “image” I listened and was a good boy. The fear sticks with you, when you are censored to protect someone else’s image. Then you are shocked and you block it out, because you watch the face of children being uplifted by positive music she sang. And your mind is stuck trying to do your job and protect her bs image or be honest and help the global dialogue about power and abuse. And you hear over and over a million times that Males are the great evil on this planet. Meanwhile you know the truth POWER empowers what is corrupt in people, regardless of their gender. Folks I am putting us both out on display to increase and enlighten everyone. I don’t want money for this, Many of you project your own ambitions. I don’t want fame from this, that is why I stomached it and kept working, and kept supporting the “teenage dream” image. And this anniversary, and time elapse made me realize hey now is the time to let it out and let it go. Not one more day of hearing “How was Katy Perry?”

In response, in that same Instagram post, the model received rejection messages, insinuating that he should "get a life" and not try to excel at the expense of the singer.

On Twitter, Perry's defenders promoted the #WeStandWithKatyPerry hashtag, where they shield that Perry isn't a person who would do something like that. She is defended for her links with UNICEF, for her philanthropic activities and for being an activist for LGBT + rights, among others.

Friends of the singer have also come out to defend her. For example, John Wujek, her close friend and stylist, said Perry would never do something like that. “We all know about your obsession with her from the video recording… you planned an imaginary wedding with her… focus on your life and your daughter and get over it, Josh. I will be praying for you,” he said.
