Top 10: Brazil dominates, but Chile has the first place

Quacquarelli Symonds launched its QS Latin America University Rankings 2019 at the end of October, placing the best universities as follows:

  2. University of São Paulo (Brazil)
  3. State University of Campinas (Brazil)
  4. National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico)
  5. University of the Andes (Colombia)
  6. Technological Institute and of Superior Studies of Monterrey (Mexico)
  7. University of Chile (Chile)
  8. University of Buenos Aires (Argentina)
  9. Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
  10. National University of Colombia (Colombia)

The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile occupies, for the second year in a row, the first place in this classification, which "provides an independent look at the development of the continent's higher education system". The Universidade de São Paulo rose one position compared to the ranking of 2018, exchanging positions with the State University of Campinas. Also, it is highlighted that the National University of Colombia entered the Top 10 ranking for the first time.
