That's right, behind the move would be the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia that would be offering 300 million Euros for an 80% participation in the club. This move would be led by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the current crown prince of that country, who is at the head of the fund.

The Saudi leader has been the focus of multiple controversies throughout his term, being accused of wanting to destabilize the Arab world, as well as the murder of journalist Jamal Ahmad Khashoggi. Additionally, another of his characteristics is his vast economic power, which does not hesitate to spend on various eccentricities.

Some of these include:

  • In 2015, he bought the Russian magnate Yuri Shefler's yacht Serene for € 500 million.
  • According to the New York times, Mohammed bought Leonardo Da Vinci's Salvator Mundi in 2017 for a record price of USD$ 450.3 million.
  • A party in the Caribbean that cost him USD$ 30 million.
  • In 2015, he bought the Château Louis XIV for USD$ 300 million.

Additionally, the fortune of Bin Salman's family would be estimated at 1.4 trillion dollars and includes the most profitable company in the world, Saudi Aramco, according to Business Insider.

However, the change in management has been welcomed by Newcastle fans, who have spent years watching the team under mediocre management and are eager to become a winning competitor in the Premier League.

Despite this, some fans accuse the president of wanting to "improve" the authoritarian image of his country by acquiring and improving certain soccer teams, a situation that according to some has already occurred with the Manchester City administration under Sheikh Mansour, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

With the support of one of the richest nations in the world, star signings are undoubtedly on the table. According to Sports Mediaset, the number of players available to reinforce the club is high, but two names stand out more than others. These are Antoine Greizmann, the current Barcelona star and former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri who led Milan in 2010 to its first Serie A title since 2004.

Rumors also mention that Newcastle would be ready to sign Gareth Bale, the current Real Madrid striker, but for now everything is speculation.
