Even today, Game of Thrones is still a worldwide phenomenon. For example, recently the Atomix site highlighted that there is already a new game for the Apple Arcade platform, which is titled Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows, which puts us in the area beyond the wall to face unknown creatures.

Also, recently, we could see that the site La Nación highlighted that a prequel to the series was launched "with a view to its premiere in 2022". This is House of the Dragon, one of the stories designed to expand the universe of books created by George RR Martin.

What many people do not take into account is that, in addition to this story, there are also other projects designed to return to television. Faced with this situation, we decided to compile all the information we have so far on the announced prequels of the highly successful Game of Thrones series.

Game of Thrones prequels and projects

First of all, let's talk about the safest one to date, which is the aforementioned House of the Dragon. According to what the La Vanguardia website highlights, some details of the possible story began to be filtered, where it seems that women will have a great role.

Thus , characters such as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower would appear, so the events narrated would show how the civil war occurred, starring this family with strong ties to pyromania. At the same time, different events related to dragons, one of the strengths of these houses, will be narrated.

Even the specialized media Culture Leisure highlights that it is possible that a new "race of dragons" will also be revealed. It was also confirmed that Miguel Sapochnik, director of acclaimed episodes, such as Winds of Winter, The Battle of the Bastards or Austera House, will be filming the pilot episode and some extra chapters.

Now, there are other projects that will also try to start up to cover the complex world of Game of Thrones. Last year, the ABC medium commented that HBO decided to cancel the series Bloodmoon, a prequel starring Naomi Watts. The reasons were simple: they filmed the pilot episode, but the result would not have been as expected.

That story would have narrated the events that occurred 8000 years before the original television series, commenting on the events of the Long Night. In other words, we could have discovered the origins of the White Walkers, one of the most enigmatic main enemies in the base story. However, not all illusions seem to collapse.

These are other ideas that, although they are being worked on, still do not have too much formality, although they will probably end in good hands. As mentioned by the Cien Radios site, there are three series that would have the collaboration of the author of the books, George RR Martin. They would be written by Max Borenstein, Brian Helgeland and Carly Wray.

Even recently, La Tercera highlighted that this medieval fiction was going to end with three films instead of six episodes. Therefore, it would not be unreasonable if they decided to bring some of these stories to the big screen. At the moment, we have to wait to know more details of these latest projects, but there is one thing that we are clear about: the Game of Thrones universe will expand with the history of the Targaryen family, while later, surely, we will know the stories of other of the most iconic houses and factions in this original HBO story.
