The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now more relevant than ever. The truth is that, since the Infinity Saga ended, many superhero fans had doubts about what would happen to the franchise going forward. Let's remember that this happened after Avengers: Endgame, which ended phase 3 of the MCU.

Now, this does not mean that Marvel wanted to put an end to this story. Actually, from there, phase 4 of the MCU began, which also began to incorporate new features. Among them, some series that are also part of the official canon of the brand and that are available on the Disney Plus platform.

Well, knowing that the next Spider-Man movie, known as Spider-Man: No Way Home promises to be one of the most successful in the history of superheroes, we decided to make a guide for all those people who have not yet have been immersed in the Marvel world or have seen some movies separately.

In what order should we watch the movies and series?

Well, in this sense there are two ways to get started in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of them refers to the release order, that is, you have to see all the content according to the release date. In this way, you would start with Iron Man (2008) and end with Eternals (2021).

Another alternative is that you do it in chronological order, that is, following the timeline of the Avengers. Here you have to start with the movie Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and then finish with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). In Disney Plus you will find the entire defined list.

Now, you should also keep in mind that, since phase 4, different series have been incorporated that are "official" by Disney, such as WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki. What If does not fall into this category, as it is an alternate reality, but you can watch it for another point of view of the MCU.

In this sense, so far they are "optional" series, since they expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but their events have not yet had a great impact on the movies. Here you can also see them in chronological or launch order, although we recommend the latter, since they are different formats.

What are the essentials?

To understand this, you must understand what the idea is about. Throughout all the films we are presented with different characters, who generally acquire powers and manage to have their own conflicts. Well, throughout the first phases there are films where all these superheroes come together to face a greater evil, which are known as "Avengers" films.

Therefore, it can be said that all the Avengers movies are the most important. So, they would be:

  • Avengers (2012)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)

However, if you want to know in depth the events that come to each of these films, the recommendation is that you see them all. In this way, you will understand why Thanos is the main villain of this arc and why this conflict will influence the events that we will see in Phase 4.

What is expected of Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Well, here comes the most complicated terrain a bit, since, you would not only have to see the official MCU films. Actually, you should also see those that are from Sony Pictures, but did not count as "official" in the superhero franchise so far.

By this, we mean Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Marc Webb's Amazing SpiderMan, and even the two new Venom movies. As for the other versions of the spider man, you should see them as the trailer for this new movie features villains from those installments, which would imply that the Sony universe will be combined with the MCU.

Regarding Venom, however, the second film has featured an interesting post-credits scene, revealing that Peter Parker's archenemy is part of the same universe as the MCU. Therefore, if you want the hit of effect to see this premiere to be much greater, we recommend that you see all these deliveries.

For now, Spider-Man: No Way Home appears as the great movie of the year, which all MCU fans hope to see, but also those who grew up with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield's version, whose appearances are rumored in this new film.
