After an "united nations’ operation" the children of Thailand and their trainer were rescued

The rescue operation of the 12 children and their soccer coach concluded successfully. The group had been trapped since June 23 in the Tham Luang cave in northern Thailand after being surprised by a storm that flooded the place and prevented their exit.

“We do not know if this is a miracle, science or what, the 13 Wild Boars are now out of the cave,” the Marines tweeted, referring to the name of the soccer team.

After nine days without food and supplies, two British divers found them alive and safe. Since then, more than 1000 people prepared the rescue and removed millions of liters of water to facilitate their exit.

According to La Vanguardia, the children are kept in quarantine at the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital because of their weak immune system and they are checking if any of them has developed any kind of disease inside the cave. Doctors report that the children are in “good health” and “well mentally”.

The official rescue team was made up of 5 Thai divers and 13 foreigners who took the children one by one. According to ElPeriódico, the children had received basic diving classes and breathing techniques for days.

Despite the unfavorable conditions of the cave, hundreds of people from various nations around the world came together for this cause and did not surrender until they were out the cave and alive. “It’s full of water and mud up to the knee. There are boulders, unevenness up and down, changes of direction, falls of five, ten meters. It is really bad”, explained Danish volunteer Ivan Karadzic.

The head of the operation, Narongsak Osottanakorn, described the operation as a “United Nations team” that included personnel from the United Kingdom, China, Myanmar, Laos, Australia, the United States, Japan and many other countries.

In addition, during the missions, the former member of the Thai Navy, Saman Kunan, died after running out of air after placing oxygen tanks in an area of the cave considered a potential escape route.

The prime minister has told El Mundo newspaper that new security measures will be implemented inside and outside the cave to protect future tourists. “In the future, we will have to control the entrance and exit of the cave, this cave has become famous throughout the world … we have to install more lights and signs in the interior”, said the prime minister. “It is a dangerous cave,” he added.

Several important people have already spoken about the success of a mission on which the whole world had its eyes set.
