What is the biggest soccer team: Argentina or Brazil?

Will it be in the country where the hand of God was forged and where were perpetuated Maradona, Di Stefano and Messi?

It is no surprise to anyone that South American football is the one that has most competed with European teams in international sportive contests. In addition, it holds the title of being the continent that more figures notches for the world of soccer. However, it is relevant to ask, which are the biggest clubs in Latin America? Furthermore, in which country are these teams?

The best way to answer that question is to observe the international scope, which in short, is where it is possible to test each other.

Brazil has seven places for the Copa Libertadores. Besides, it has 6 places for the South American Cup. Meanwhile, Argentina has 12 places for international cups divided into the two major competitions.

Brazil has entered the last definitive phase of the liberators cup 33 times: 18 times champion and 15 times runner-up. Moreover, Argentina exceeds in effectiveness with supremacy to Brazil, which has been consecrated in the international tournament in 24 occasions. Only in 10 occasions the team has not achieved the goal.

In Brazilian lands there have been distributed the Copa Libertadores titles very equitably. As long as, in Argentina, there is hegemony of a few. In Brazil Sao Paulo, Santos and Gremio hold the title of being the most times squads champion of the Copa Libertadores with only three consecrations. The individual titles obtained are added by Cruzeiro, Internacional, Palmeiras, Flamengo, Vasco da gama, Corinthians, and Atletico Mineiro.

In terms of Copa Sudamericana, Argentina has taken advantage of the fact that the tournament began in the 21st century, at the best moment in Argentine football, to demolish the rest of the America in numbers with 8 titles and 4 subtitles. Far from it, there is Brazil with 3 championships and 4 sub-championships.

In the international scope, there are many more titles: La Recopa Sudamericana, Supercopa Sudamericana, the club world cup or also called Intercontinental Cup a few years ago, among many others. Thus, the club with the most international champion of America is Boca Juniors, which has 18 official international titles. It is followed by Independiente de Avellaneda with 17 titles, Sao Paulo with twelve titles and River Plate with ten consecrations.

Argentina has 70 official international conquests, while Brazil has 57 consecrations. It is true that different aspects write greatness; such as, the fans, figures, legendary schemes, a great school of lower divisions, a good institutional direction. However, at the end, titles justly or unfairly are those that preserve that legacy and perpetuate it.
