Cruising to Alaska

I work on a cruise ship. The ship I work on goes to Alaska. It is amazing. The landscape is so beautiful and dramatic. If we are lucky we see a grizzly bear hunting salmon. When the guests first arrive, my job is to stand on the deck and check off their names on a list. The deck can be very windy and cold, so I make sure to zip my jacket all the way up. I also had to develop a system to make sure the list does not rip in the wind. I attach a clip on each side of the clipboard to reduce any possibility of it blowing away.

My favorite part of the cruise is when we anchor the ship, lower smaller boats IGNORE INTO the water, and go fishing. I crew one of the boats. After catching a fish on the line and reeling it in, we have to lean far over the lip of boat to scoop up the fish in a net. It is a little complicated to make sure the boat stays balanced, but no one ever falls in the ocean. Afterward the chefs cook the fish we caught for a big fish fry dinner.
