This is the first film with a Marvel female superhero in the lead role, which focuses on the story of Carol Danvers. Danvers is an American pilot who becomes a superhero with alien powers.

Danvers, according to Larson in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, would be half human half Kree, an alien race. In the trailer, we watch Nick Fury and Coulson much younger, so this film takes place years before Infinity War. However, Captain Marvel is not a fortuitous movie. It's actually an introduction for a character who will have a very important role in the next Avengers movie.
