We are only hours away from the most important three-week cycling race in the world. The great protagonist will undoubtedly be Ineos in this Grande Boucle, which will begin next Saturday, July 6, in Brussels, Belgium. It should be remembered that the British team changed sponsors this season and that's why its name went from Sky Team to Ineos Team. Nevertheless, its cyclists and manager team is still the same.

For this year, the new team Ineos will use its successful strategy that worked incredibly well in the 2018 edition, as they won the title with Geraint Thomas. What does it consist of? The idea of the United Kingdom squad is to support two leaders and a good list of gregarious people.

El Confidencial remembers textually that "this year the Geraint Thomas Tour has won, Chris Froome has achieved it four times and before them it was Bradley Wiggins who crossed Paris dressed in yellows. All British, a nationality of not much history in the cycling by stages, good wheelers turned into, but, above all, outstanding members of Sir David John Brailsford's Sky team". It also remarks that, while they were called Sky, they had participation in nine editions of the Tour and won six of them, with Froome always in stellar plan.

In last year's Tour, they arrived with Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas as team captains and favored the rider with the best level during the three weeks of competition. In the end, the team managed to win with the race after the Welshman's triumph. For the gala round of this season, the two line leaders will be Thomas, again, and the Colombian Egan Bernal.

"After the success we had last year, we have decided to have 2 joint leaders again. Geraint and Egan are in great shape. We believe that this approach will adapt better to us as a team, as it gives us more flexibility in the course and a clear opportunity for success," said Sir Dave Brailsford, sports director of the Ineos Team in an interview for EFE.

Geraint Thomas, Ineos' new star

After Chris Froome was out of competition because of a strong fall in the Dauphiné, Geraint Thomas is the favorite to retain the title of the French race. Although the current champion of the competition has not had great results this season, he is still the first candidate to get the second big cycling competition of the year, according to the newspaper Marca.

"Thomas will be Ineos great leader with Bernal as second. His fall in the Tour of Switzerland generates a little doubt about his level. However, the British will have total freedom to defend the yellow jersey," said the media on its website.

Egan Bernal, the Latin American force of the team

The Ineos young cyclist was the great revelation of the 2018 Tour and this season he is one of the favorites for the gala round. Although he will have the responsibility of being one of the leaders of the British team for the first time in a big competition, Bernal can surprise us all and become the first Colombian to win the Grande Boucle.

"Egan is undoubtedly one of the great favorites, and not only for his victory in Switzerland, but because any race he goes to he wins it, and he also has a great team that works very well for him. He is young and the Tour is in a totally different level, but he already knows the race, last year he did well and will fight for the victory," said Alberto Contador, when asked about the level of the young cyclist, in a dialogue for Marca España.

"I have very good memories of last year's Tour. It was my debut, so it was special. Now, the most important thing is to enjoy the three weeks, give the best of me and be happy with my performance. I hope to share the leadership responsibilities with Thomas and do everything we can to help the team win their first Tour," said the Colombian cyclist, in statements collected by Pulzo.

The 22-year-old Colombian won the Paris-Nice and the Tour of Switzerland this year, in which he made a great performance. However, the Colombian suffered in May a sharp fall for which he fractured his collarbone and could not run the Giro d'Italia, which was his big race of the year.
