Barcelona's French striker, Ousmane Dembélé, will remain out of the team for about five weeks after suffering a muscle injury, in the match in which Barcelona lost to Athletic Bilbao at the start of the Spanish Football League, said Monday The Catalan club.
"The tests carried out on the player of the first team O. Dembélé have confirmed that he suffers a fibrillar break in the biceps femoris of the left thigh. The approximate withdrawal time is five weeks," the club said on its website.
Dembélé's injury is another hit for Barca coach Ernesto Valverde, after the Uruguayan attacker, Luis Suárez had to be replaced after an injury in the match in which Athletic Bilbao won 1-0 on Friday.
The star Lionel Messi was not present in that game at a time, as he is recovering from his calf injury that prevented him from making the pre-season tour of the club in the United States.
Barcelona will receive Real Betis on Sunday on the second date of the League.
