The cold wave freezes the United States

As with the Niño phenomenon, La Niña has generated great changes with respect to atmospheric winds, which has increased the winter in the United States. In November 9th, according to the BBC, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) warned that La Niña would generate more than usual rainfall and would lower temperatures in North America.

Indeed, the cold wave during December has broken new records. One of the beaten records took place in South Dakota, where the temperature reached -36 Celsius degrees (-32 degrees Fahrenheit). This temperature was not reached since 99 years ago.

Likewise, during the winter wave, temperatures have been located between 11 to 17 degrees below normal, which marred the holidays at the end of the year in some cities. For example, in Chicago Holidays’ events were canceled due to environmental conditions.

There are different places that have been devastated by the winter wave; such as, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa. Inhabitants in these zones have experienced Arctic cold.

The new cold wave, as some catalog the unprecedented winter in the last century, has worried the authorities and civil society. One of the points that worry the citizens is the increase in the cost of energy, which is a blow to the economy of the most vulnerable population.

On the other hand, the increase in the number of deaths is representing another concern for the authorities and the community. According to the latest reports by the US authorities, during the slast wees, at least, 12 people were reported dead across the country due to the low temperatures.

Unfortunately, the first weather forecasts for 2018 show that the winter wave is not over yet and next week it is expected that cooler airs will arrive in the United States, which will affect Florida in large part.

Miami will face low temperatures

Several newspapers of Miami assure that the temperatures in the south of Florida will fall between 40 to 60 degrees in the course of the week, which will cause that Miami arrives at the 41 degrees and Orlando at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, the glacial cold experienced by other states located in the northwest and mid-west of the United States will not arrive with the same force in Florida.
We must recall that the forecasts of the last weeks of 2017 showed that there was the possibility of snow falling in some areas of Florida as in Florida Panhandle, due to the storm that last month covered the county of Escambia with two tons of snow.

In the coming days southern Florida will be subjected to rain, which will lower the temperature in an area that is not used to the cold of an unprecedented winter. It is expected that for the coming weeks the temperatures increase.
