Nayib Bukele is on the lips of international critics, human rights protectors, and the presidents of other countries, who observe her actions that have been described as extreme. But they have been the answer for the people who elected him, exhausted from living in an environment of insecurity and uncertainty due to the gangs that had flogged and frightened the population.

Nayib's wife, Gabriela, whose maiden name was Gabriela Roberta Rodríguez Perezalonso, daughter of a Salvadoran father and a Nicaraguan mother, met him in 2004, maintaining a dating relationship until they got married in 2014.

When Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez served as mayor of Nuevo Cuscatlán, and later as mayor of San Salvador, Gabriela promoted the creation of the first Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Women and Family and in 2018 she founded and has since directed PrePare, the first prenatal education center in El Salvador, thanks to her knowledge as a psychologist and because she has a doctorate in prenatal psychology. Additionally, she promoted the Ballet Company of El Salvador, in response to her great fans since she has been a professional ballet dancer.

For this reason and for the dynamics that it has imprinted on the Child Development Centers, achieving their recovery, with which a stupendous work in early childhood, breastfeeding, and food security is made visible, El Salvador was designated as a guardian country of breastfeeding rooms at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Since her husband was appointed her President, she has assumed her role as First Lady, and her productive work has continued unabated. In 2020 and 2021, she led the national consultation on the implementation of the National Grow Together Policy. In 2022, she requested the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador to approve the Crecer con Cariño Law and thus provide Comprehensive Protection for Early Childhood, Childhood, and Adolescence, replacing the previous one.

She dedicated herself to providing an environment of protection and care for mothers and children in the moments before, during, and after birth, through a Law called Crecer con Cariño.

In 2022, she won the World Childhood Award, in the Politics and Society category, due to the national policy Growing Together, awarded by the World Organization for Childhood Education, Stimulation and Development, she awarded her the World Childhood Award. She also received the Eureka 2022 World Science Award, from the World Council of University Academics and Researchers of Colombia, in recognition of her academic, and human trajectory and her management of issues aimed at early childhood.

Gabriela from a very young age has expressed, demonstrated, and strengthened her passion for her profession. It has been dedicated to promoting the education and training of health professionals, that is, doctors and nurses, as well as pregnant mothers, with the focus on strengthening and developing the bond with their baby on the way, to becoming aware of the multiple and invaluable benefits that this relationship from the prenatal state brings to the unborn baby.

In an interview, Nayib Bukele states that this is what he most admires about her and what has attracted him to her since he met her. He affirms that, although they handle it from different perspectives and actions, the two identify in wanting to leave a mark, in generating a positive change for their country and they are doing so hand in hand.

The current government currently has 91% acceptance, which is a high percentage of favoritism of Salvadorans, ranking first worldwide in comparison with other leaders.

Unquestionably in this case, as in many others, the saying that says that "behind a man, there is a great woman" is affirmed.
