These are the Latin Countries More Demanding with Piracy

The fight against content piracy, which includes respect for intellectual property, is a constant concern in the different countries of the region. In this way, it seeks to end a market that violates the rights of both creators and distributors of audiovisual content.

The piracy industry in Latin America

Maryleana Mendez, general secretary of Asiet (Inter-American Association of Telecommunications Companies) and director of CETLA (Center for Telecommunications Studies of Latin America) mentioned in a report on piracy in the region, that the formats of the piracy industry have changed. Mexico

Piracy is punished with actions at the administrative, civil and criminal levels. Colombia

Due to the high investment of foreign companies, Colombia has adopted different measures to improve the protection of intellectual property and prevent piracy. In addition to these countries, Maryleana Méndez mentioned that there are countries in the region that have also taken concrete actions in the fight against piracy. Among these countries is Brazil with Operation 404 (2019) and Ecuador with the Administrative Blocking Orders.

The fight against piracy in the development and creation of content, as well as in different types of products and brands, is fundamental in economic development. This builds confidence and losses in the economic area are avoided. As for consumers, they also benefit, since the risks of computer damage are reduced.
