Soccer: What are the dreams of Uruguayan coaches in Colombia?
Three ‘charruas’ coaches want to be protagonists in the coffee country generating styles and winning championships
The Uruguayan soccer has always been characterized by the courage and constant struggle of its players during the 90 minutes of soccer matches. In the Colombian soccer, there are three Uruguayan coaches: Gregorio Perez, Jorge Da Silva, and Gerardo Pelusso. The trainers manage Santa Fe, America, and Deportivo Cali, respectively.
Defense is essential in the teams that they direct, and every one of them considers it is a fundamental tool for strengthening the attack. Their theories consist on consolidate the defensive wall with great synchronization of defenders and midfielders, in that way, they create a powerful attack.
Perez and Santa Fe
Gregorio Perez is the coach of Independiente Santa Fe, that last year it was a runner up in the second semester of Colombian League. During his management, the team has consolidated a good defense based in the leadership of William Tesillo, who properly guides his teammates.
Furthermore, midfielders like Juan Daniel Roa and Yeison Gordillo have showed a fantastic performance. Both players struggle and dispute every ball during all the soccer matches. They are competitors that recover the ball and give it efficiently to their teammates when necessary.
Da Silva and America
Jorge ‘Polilla’ Da Silva is a hero in America, because the last year he avoided the return of his team to the second division of Colombian soccer. In fact, ‘escarlatas’ disputed the semifinals of the tournament performing an excellent campaign. The players have demonstrated compromise and effort.
For strengthening the attack of America, players like Carlos Bejarano, Eder Castañeda, and Elkin Blanco give security and balance in the defensive zone. Their moves are important for the striker Cristian Martinez Borja, who has scored a lot of goals and is one of the best players of this popular team.
Pelusso and Deportivo Cali
On this semester, Gerardo Pelusso came to Deportivo Cali with the mission of recovering Cali’s glory and return it to the first places of Colombian league. Pelusso said that consolidating the defense is important for creating and excellent and powerful attack with Jose Sand.
What do they have in common?
These three coaches have priority in physical work. For these reason, the preparation is very intense. They like that the soccer players to have a harder training in order to acquire velocity before of the season. The three coaches consider this as a very important aspect in the performance and development of their teams.
These ‘charruas’ coaches want to be protagonist in Colombia. Their objective is to get a title to produce happiness for the supporters of their teams.
Even more, all of them have left a legacy in the teams they have managed. Now, Colombian soccer has opened its doors to them. Perez, Da Silva, and Pelusso hope to reward with brilliant matches their supporters. The main purpose is to win titles and raise trophies.
For example, Gerardo Pelusso got the title of Copa Sudamericana in 2015 with Independiente Santa Fe. Currently, he faces a great challenge with Deportivo Cali. He decided to accept the mission of consolidating an excellent process with important players that want to obtain great results.
