Dustin Johnson

The champion of the last edition of this tournament is emerging as one of the most important competitors of this year. Johnson achieved a championship record last year, with a total score of 20 under par, showing that he has a high degree of familiarity with the Augusta National Golf Club.

The number 1 in the world has not had the best start to 2021, with only one tournament won in the 6 he has participated in, but it is expected that he will be redeemed in Augusta, considering his long streak of success in this competition. Since 2015, Johnson has been among the top 10 golfers in this tournament 5 times.

Jordan Spieth

Spieth comes in with a hot, fresh hand from winning the Texas Open held last weekend. Despite having a 1,351-day streak without winning a tournament, Spieth is considered by many analysts as one of the favorites to win it all at this Masters.

Spieth was considered among the best players in the world between 2015 and 2017. His victory in Texas is, for many, a return to his glory days. So much so that in the Official World Golf Ranking, the 27-year-old American catapulted from number 53 last week to number 38 this week. Your position in 2020? He was barely entering the rankings, rated number 82. Will we see the beginning of a new dynasty for Jordan Spieth this weekend?

Jon Rahm

A frequently repeated name as a Masters favorite is Jon Rahm. The Spanish is the third-best player in the world according to the official rankings and in the last couple of years, he has shown that he deserves this position.

In 2020, Rahm won the BMW Championship and the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. He also came in second at the Farmers Insurance Open.

On the other hand, in 2021 he has been among the top 10 in 5 of the 7 tournaments in which he has participated.

One mental factor that could affect Rahm is that he is a new father. The separation from their son, who was born on April 4, could be a key emotional factor determining whether Rahm can compete at the highest level or not. So much so that his participation in the event was questioned by him.
