Try, first of all, to start organizing what you need in advance and have your suitcase ready on the eighth month of pregnancy. Remember that unless you have a caesarean section scheduled, your baby may arrive without warning and take you by surprise.
Keeping in mind that in a delivery without complications the stay in the clinic is of 2 to 4 days, we recommend packing the following things:
According to Marta Toro, mother of two daughters, it is necessary to take to the birth:
- First baby change
- Blanket
- Diapers
- Sanitary towels
- Pajama
- Elements of personal hygiene for the mother and wet wipes
To this list, Laura Mora Muñoz, a tenth-semester student of medicine at the Universidad del Rosario, adds:
- Cream number 4
- Talcs
- Comfortable shoes so the mother can move around the room

What should the father carry on?
Understanding that the father is also an important part of the process, if he decides to be in the birth, he shouldn’t wear jewelery to the clinic or submit any chemical to the mother and baby.
In addition, it is recommended to carry on the necessary documents of the mother: identity document, private health insurance card or social security card, medical studies carried out during pregnancy, and her delivery plan.
A camera, hygiene items, comfortable clothes, blanket, snacks, some elements of entertainment such as sound and money players, are things that the father should also have.
