An Argentine court of justice sentenced footballer Jonathan Fabbro on Thursday to 14 years for the "seriously outrageous" sexual abuse of a minor on at least five occasions, the judges said.

"Here there is no joy, only tranquility for my daughter and a lot of sadness because my daughter did not deserve what he did to her. But the Argentine Justice comes," said the mother of the child in television statements after the sentence.

Fabbro, 37, has been detained at the Marcos Paz prison in the province of Buenos Aires, since he was extradited from Mexico, where he was arrested at the end of 2017.
