An Argentine court of justice sentenced footballer Jonathan Fabbro on Thursday to 14 years for the "seriously outrageous" sexual abuse of a minor on at least five occasions, the judges said.
The former player of River Plate and Boca Juniors, among several other South American teams and who was nationalized Paraguayan, was convicted of abuse of his goddaughter when the child was between 5 and 11 years old, according to the newspaper Clarín.
"Here there is no joy, only tranquility for my daughter and a lot of sadness because my daughter did not deserve what he did to her. But the Argentine Justice comes," said the mother of the child in television statements after the sentence.
