How is the chronology?
'Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker' is the ninth installment of the main Star Wars saga and concludes the plot of the third trilogy as well as that of the entire main plot. The events of the film happen a year after what happened in 'The Last Jedi' and revolve around the character of King Palpatine, played by Daisy Ridley.
The story script that would end the saga was written by JJ Abrams, who also directs it and has a minor role in the film. Abrams also owns the production company Bad Robot Productions, which is in charge of the distribution of the film by The Walt Disney Company.
Who stars in the movie?
The film has a vast and diverse cast, including Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomie Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong'o, Keri Rusell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams.
Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia and who died in 2016, and Harrison Ford in the role of Han Solo participate in the previous trilogies. The archive voice of Alec Guinness was also used, who died in 2000 and performed in the first Star Wars trilogy.
How did it go at the box office?
The film has been strongly criticized by critics and fans. On the one hand, this is already the ninth installment of the saga, but attached to the main plot, Disney has produced other feature films of the Star Wars universe, which makes it difficult to write a novel script of the same universe. For many, it was a disappointment that Lucas Films, the producer of George Lucas, the original creator of Star Wars, was bought by The Walt Disney Company because it was felt now that the original creator would be less involved in the writing of the stories and in the creation from the same.
However, 'The Rise of Skywalker' led the US box office. According to Exhibitor Relations figures, the film raised about $ 175.5 million in the United States at its premiere. With this figure, the film ranks third in the highest-grossing debut in history after two other episodes of the same trilogy: 'The Force Awakens' and 'The Last Jedi'. With this debut, in addition, he surpassed the other films with which he shares billboards during these Christmas seasons: 'Jumanji: the next level' and 'Frozen 2'.
