It is already known that the Colombian Men's National Team is currently going through a difficult time, but what you may not know is that there is a Colombian National Team that is succeeding despite everything.
This is the female Colombian U-17 team. These "tough" soccer players not only qualified for the World Cup to be played in India in 2022, but they also did it in a spectacular way. Why? As it turns out, they didn't lose (until now) a single game on their way to the top soccer competition.
But the thing doesn't stay there. It turns out that the U-17 women's team also thrashed several of their rival teams on the way to the World Cup.
These are some of the important goals they achieved:
- On March 3 they beat with Peru 7-0
- On March 7 they demolished Ecuador 4-0
- On March 16 they demolished Chile 3-0.
Colombia has decisively won all their matches and great things are expected from the young coffee growers in this upcoming World Cup. With 20 goals for and only 1 against, they only have to face Brazil, who dominated the Group B teams of the qualifiers in a similar way.
The team's two scorers so far have been Linda Caicedo (5) and Karla Torres (4). The first is a 1.61m forward who currently plays for Deportivo Cali, with whom she won the national title in 2021. Torres, meanwhile, plays for Generaciones Palmarinas (Liga Valle) also in the forward position.

The technical director of this team, Carlos Paniagua, spoke positively of the enormous moment that the National Team is having : "The balance is positive, we have a group that came to an international tournament and played four games in less than eight days. The players had a great response, from the debut they gave a blow of authority in the group. Most took out their passport for the first time to leave the country, and they came to play with that personality and that hierarchy".
The players of the National Team were also proud of having been able to achieve such an achievement. "The message that the coaching staff gives us is that we continue dreaming, that dreams can be fulfilled. A few months ago we dreamed of being here and now they are a reality . They ask us not to keep anything". Sintia Cabezas, the team's defender, said about the win.
As we already mentioned, the Women's Under-17 World Cup will be played in India, although the tentative date is not yet known, it is certain that it will be played this year. Among the teams that are already qualified are Brazil, New Zealand, China, Japan, India and of course, Colombia. It is the first time that India will host a FIFA women's championship, so expectations for this event are high.
Although Colombia has not made it out of the group stage of this event since 2008, this year could be the exception.
