The 2023 South American U-20 tournament will be played again in Colombia. The 10 CONMEBOL youth teams will dispute the places for the U20 World Cup in Indonesia and for the 2023 Pan American Games, which will be held this year in Valparaíso, Chile.

This will be the fifth time in history that Colombia has hosted the event. The past opportunities were in 1964, 1987, 1992 and 2005.

 Curious Facts of the South American Sub 20

As an anecdotal fact, 2 of the 4 times that Colombia has hosted it, it has also finished champion of the event (2005 and 1987). On the other two occasions, Brazil (1992) and Uruguay (1964) were the first. Figures such as Messi, Sergio Agüero, Neymar Jr., Ronaldinho, Diego Armando Maradona, Radamel Falcao, Arturo Vidal, Enzo Francescoli, Romario, Carlos Valderrama, José Luis Chilavert, among others, have emerged from these tournaments.
