Claudia Romo Edelman, a Role Model for Future Girl Leaders

To celebrate International Women's Day, Newport's Unreasonable Kids College is hosting a leadership program connecting girls with Claudia González Romo for March 8, 2021.

Claudia González Romo is the communications officer of the Executive Office of the Special Envoy for the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Climate Change.

She is a leader in diversity, inclusion, and equity, her focus is to unify the Hispanic community in the United States, promote sustainable development, and organize various activities aimed at achieving this goal.

Since 2014, she has directed the global public promotion department of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), with the aim of influencing public debates on issues of interest to children, such as education, early stimulation, immigration and refugees, violence against childhood, nutrition and health. Prior to this, she served as a marketing and brand manager for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

Her career revolved around the impulse of social activity, at the same time that she was a journalist and diplomat, thus becoming a powerful influencer of public opinion and the urgency to change our perception of great differences. She, therefore, initiated and led global movements that enabled society to mobilize for change.

Romo is also the founder of We Are All Human, an organization dedicated to promoting sexual diversity and inclusion around the world. For this reason, it is vitally important that she be the one who connects with the girls of the future, who will have to lead our countries in all areas: political, economic, social, and cultural.

Founder Ateba Whitaker, a former Nike executive, recently stated that this International Women's Day hopes to give local girls and women the ability to change the world and "choose to challenge," stereotypes.

Regarding Claudia Romo's participation, she stated “She is going to teach our girls how to be powerful. The idea is to teach girls to lead from the front. Not from behind, but from the side, but from the front, which is why we are very excited about International Women's Day and this event."

The good news of this event is that it will be for the whole public, open to all the girls in the world who wish to connect with Claudia Romo; It will undoubtedly be an excellent opportunity to strengthen children's leadership and prepare our future leaders.

Ateba Whitaker noted that: "When I was a child, I didn't have opportunities to use tools like this to learn to be a leader. Somehow, I fell into the leadership of Nike," she said. "My goal is to inspire my children to learn to lead at an early age so that as adults they will be great leaders and right now we need great leaders."
