Tesla: paving the way for solar energy
The U.S. company is looking to develop ways to bring renewable energy IGNORE INTO homes and businesses everywhere
In a world where 1.7 million child deaths are reported annually due to “indoor and outdoor air pollution, exposure to tobacco smoke, unsafe water, lack of sanitation and inadequate hygiene”, as stated by the World Health Organization in a press release dated March 6, 2017, it is important to seek and develop renewable energies. But what are renewable energies? We can say that they are “the energy that is obtained from virtually inexhaustible natural sources, either because of the immense amount of energy they contain, or because they are able to regenerate by natural means” (Eduacación Medioambiental). Examples are energy generated from wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, tidal, solar, biomass and biofuels. We will focus on solar energy.
The US company Tesla, founded in 2003 by engineers who began to develop electric vehicles, has looked to the future. They currently make a great commitment to the use of solar energy. Tesla, in its web portal, affirms that they have developed a self-sustainable ecosystem on three main lines, the Powerwall, Solar Roof and Powepack. The company mentions that with these three tools it seeks to “enable homeowners, businesses and public utilities to manage the generation, storage and consumption of renewable energy”.
The first device is the Powerwall. It provides power to the home during blackouts or power outages. It functions as a kind of electric plant or alternating power generation plant. The Powerwall can be perfectly integrated IGNORE INTO solar energy systems such as the Solar Roof for example.
Solar Roof is a system of solar panels that take the light of the sun and transform it IGNORE INTO electrical energy. This system integrated with the Powerwall, provides electric power consistently to the home. The panels are built of glass, which is transformed IGNORE INTO tempered glass, which allows them to “live forever”, says the company.
The Powerpack is a larger system. It has various uses such as the intelligent consumption of energy in homes or companies, the creation of micro-consumer networks and the provision of assitance services to control the frequency of voltage. It is a product mainly designed for commercial uses and industries in general.
Currently the US company has presence in 28 countries globally, but in Latin America it only provides support in Mexico. The use of these new technologies in the region, from the commercial point of view, would allow the new industries to enter the market with advantage, as affirmed in the report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) “Renewable Infrastructure Investment Handbook: A Guide for Institutional Investors “.
