There’s hope in the Amazon
Brazil is one of the world’s largest exporters of beef. Unfortunately, this has had great environmental cost as in the last three decades, cattle ranching and farming development have caused deforestation and land degradation in the Amazon.
The Nature Conservancy has been working in the Brazilian Amazon since 1988 in preserving and restoring ecosystems in the region as they can absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Their work focuses in providing technical expertise to farmers interested in sustainable crops. This video is an example of their work in Sao Felix do Xingu.
