1. Gingerbread

This dish has its origin in the Middle Ages when cookies were baked in spaces such as monasteries or houses of artisans, as published by the Bacanal portal. This bread is a tradition of northern Croatia, says the portal Cocina Delirante, and has a very basic and popular recipe, whose ingredients are flour, sodium bicarbonate, sugar and spices, among others. There are some variations depending on the decoration that the baker wishes to assign to the dough and, in some occasions, there is a religious motive. As the UNESCO portal states, gingerbread has become one of the most notorious symbols of Croatian identity. Nowadays, the bakers who manufacture it are the main participants of the parties, events, local meetings. Their presence in these encounters gives these populations a sense of identity and continuity.

3. Arab coffee

According to the Cocina Delirante portal, this coffee is the perfect combination between maceration and reposing techniques. Therefore, demanding palates consider it exquisite. The special preparation process consists of slowness and its preparation in copper jars on the burner. This coffee is characterized by its dense, frothy and at the same time sweet texture, and is usually served in small cups. Finally, the portal states that according to UNESCO, this café is considered an emblem of hospitality, friendship, refinement and entertainment. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar were inscribed in 2015. With the Arab coffee, a small ritual is carried out in which the most important guest or the oldest one is served first.
