What kind of intelligence do you have and how can you develop it?

Intelligence is usually associated with the agility of mathematical logical reasoning and verbal understanding that an individual has. It seems that for many this is the only form of intelligence that exists and calls into question the ability of those people who seem not to develop these components associated with it; This happens especially in educational institutions where if a student is not good in the areas of mathematics or Spanish it means that it is not applied.

This has a lot to do with the universal way of testing a person's intelligence: the intelligence test (IQ), developed by Alfred Binet in 1900, which focuses on quantifying the probability of success at the scholar level, but not in others life aspects.

The truth is that for many years there have been hypotheses that mention that there is more than one type of intelligence and that an individual can have more than one. Keep in mind that the idea of intelligence is a very abstract idea, so the studies are purely theoretical. The Multiple Intelligence Theory, presented by the psychologist Howard Gardner, is one of the best known and accepted.

For Gardner, a professor at Harvard University, there are several types of intelligence that are associated with different types of abilities. In addition, intelligence is not a unit, but a network of related sets. Intelligence, according to Gardner, is the "ability to solve problems or produce products in a context".

1. Linguistic-verbal intelligence

This intelligence is the ability to master language and communication. People who have this type of intelligence are usually very effective at expressing themselves from language, whether oral, gestural or written, they also show sensitivity for words and tend to develop very well in creative, political and religious.

To improve and develop this type of intelligence, it is recommended to start writing a personal diary, write sporadic essays on a topic of interest, read poetry and pay attention to the lyrics of the songs, read constantly, maintain long dialogues and debate.

2. Logical-mathematical intelligence

Those who have logical-mathematical intelligence are people who are very good and fast when solving abstract problems. It is characterized by being easy to perform calculations, to visualize a space geometrically and to reason in a deductive way. These people are dedicated to science and mathematics.

To develop this intelligence, it is recommended to face problems and situations in which it must be used, as well as to make mental and number games and to perform mental calculations.

3. Spatial or visual intelligence

As the name implies, people who have spatial or visual intelligence are people who have the ability to navigate and place objects in their mind. They are people who are located very efficiently and who have the ability to visualize and navigate very accurately an object or place in your mind. These people are very good at visual crafts, such as architecture, visual arts, interior design.

Spatial or visual intelligence can be improved with toys that require such ability, such as tangrams or Rubik's cubes.

4. Musical intelligence

This type of intelligence has people who have the ability to music. They have a very sharp perception of sound and can create great musical pieces, their ability is innate and they interact with their surroundings based on music.

The development of this skill is given, like the others, with constant practice, in this case, the interpretation of an instrument or composition of a piece.

5. Body intelligence and kinesthetics

People who have body intelligence and kinesthetics are very skilled with their body movements, coordination and especially have the ability to express their emotions from their body and their mobility. This type of intelligence makes use of both hemispheres of the brain.

This intelligence develops from the physical work and practice of dance or theater.

6. Interpersonal intelligence

Those who have this type of intelligence have the ability to identify the emotional contrasts of other people, what their motivations or intentions are. These people are good at listening but also speaking. They are people who can be politicians, therapists, teachers or vendors. They are very cooperative people and they work well with other individuals.

This intelligence can be developed with activities that require listening to other people, such as group therapies. Board games are also very useful.

7. Intrapersonal intelligence

Finally, the intrapersonal intellect has the people who have the ability to know and recognize the emotions and internal aspects of themselves. These people not only distinguish their emotions but differentiate them, name them and also know when and how to use them to guide their behavior. Analyzing oneself is very difficult, so intelligence is one of the least developed.

You can develop it by doing individual activities that give you the space to get to know you, like writing a diary or meditating
