October is characterized as the month of terror and suspense in the cinema and the streaming platforms want to keep the launch of the season. Some series of these genres have become classics such as “Stranger Things”, “Pretty Little Liars” or “The Walking Dead”. Others have come to be considered cult thanks to critical acclaim.
Next, we leave six other horror series perfect for Halloween that can be found on the different streaming platforms. Many of them have managed to achieve recognition at major festivals and others are recognized for their popularity within horror.
“Lovecraft Country”
What would happen if a family hit the road in search of the missing patriarch? First of all, nothing to write home about. However, in a context where these people are African-Americans in the 1950s, with racial segregation at its height, everything changes. The production raises the terrors and monsters to which racialized characters are subjected, which could well be taken from Lovecraft's stories. The series is directed by Misha Green and Jordan Peele (“Get Out”) has executive producer credits. It can be seen on HBO Max.
“American Horror Story”
Ryan Murphy is the one in charge that Netflix is picking up again with “Dahmer” and “The Watcher”. However, his success as a director exploded with “American Horror Story”, the iconic American horror series, which is now in its tenth season. Each installment is a self-contained horror miniseries, which since its first season already has a loyal audience. Right now you can see it through Star +.
“What We Do In The Shadows”
Eight years ago, the film of the same name on which it is based debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and has been critically acclaimed ever since. The horror series is also told as a mockumentary. Follow the narrative of four vampires who have lived together for over a century until a visitor reminds them of the reason they came to New York 10 years ago: world domination. The series currently has 4 seasons on Disney+ and has been nominated for an Emmy.

"Hannibal"
The literary saga of Hannibal is one of the most important in the horror genre. The series that is based on the novels of Thomas Harris is not far behind. This production deals with the relationship between a very young psychiatrist, Hannibal Lécter, and an FBI agent who will later become someone effective in capturing serial killers. The production focuses on Hannibal's development from psychiatrist to psychopath. It can be seen on Prime Video.
"The Spookies"
It has drawn attention for being one of the few comedy and horror series set in a Latin American city: Mexico City. The story focuses on a group of people who are fond of horror, who take their hobby to another level through a peculiar business. For example, one of them is fond of blood and another, who is a dentist, with teeth. The series can be seen through HBO Max.
“Fear Street”
Although it is not a series in its format, this trilogy was in charge of setting last year's Halloween. Witchcraft, forbidden love and paranormal activity are the axis of the three stories that are connected despite belonging to very different times. The trilogy delves into the curse that covers Shadyside to counteract the curse of Sara Frier, the villain who has haunted this town for centuries. One installment belongs to the 90s, another to the 70s and the last one goes back to the 17th century. It is directed by Leigh Janiak and can be seen on Netflix.
