The latest videogame of the Rockstar company offers us the opportunity to feel like real outlaws

After 8 years, the videogame company, Rockstar, finally launched the sequel to one of its best-received intellectual properties: Red Dead Redemption. A game inspired by the stories of cowboys and bandits of the old west, who put us in control of a former criminal in search of his former band of bandits in exchange for his freedom.

What is it?

Despite being called Red Dead Redemption 2 , the story of this one is actually a prequel, where you control Arthur Morgan, one of the members of the band of outlaws that chased the previous protagonist, so it is not absolutely necessary that you played the previous title to be able to enjoy the adventure. But if you did, you can see many easter eggs and references to events that will happen in the future.

The years did not pass in vain, since Rockstar makes use of all the advances in technology and implements game mechanics that have improved with each of its deliveries between 2010 and 2018.

Its mechanics of combat with weapons is very reminiscent of the title released in 2012, Max Payne 3, where you feel the weight of each weapon and how to aim it is very accurate. In addition, enemies react differently depending on where they are shot.

His hand-to-hand combat is very similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 5, which although not as complex as a video game that is only fights, gives a touch of realism, since our character feels the fights, but not enough to always win.

The way to progress, through missions, is the one that every Rockstar fan should already know, where names of characters appear on the map and you can go to do them favors to continue with the story.

What are the new features?

The graphics of the game are among the best and is shown in the models of the characters, whose faces, clothing and movement are completely detailed. You can reach to distinguish the wrinkles that are made in his pants when walking and notice the dirt on their faces after a fight in a bar.

Also the objects in the world enjoy this level of detail, the metals are rusty, the wood is reflected by its varnishing, the weapons deteriorate with their use and the snow sinks with the weight of the player.

The camera can be changed to accommodate the players. You can put the camera in first person to feel closer to the action or over the shoulder to allow you to see more of the environment, and if you want to feel more in a cowboy movie you also have the option of using what the game calls a cinematic camera. Which focuses on different actions and scenarios to give a feeling of watching a movie.

As for the audio, the influence of Sergio Leone's cinema is noticeable, since the music that plays in the dramatic moments is very similar to that composed by the great Ennio Morricone. When you're riding through a city, you can hear the murmurs of pedestrians and the music of the bars. While if you ride in nature, there is almost total silence that is only interrupted by the sound of animals crossing your path.

Without a doubt, Red Dead Redemption 2 triumphs most in immersion, as it puts you in this world by giving you hundreds of activities to do, you can go for a drink in a room, participate in bar fights, play dominoes with a group of strangers, hunting animals, camping, robbing banks, assaulting trains and even cooking.

The game also has an honor system with which the world will change according to your actions. If you decide to enter the bandit life, people will recognize you and go to warn the police to stop you. Besides that you will always have to be defensive because you never know when a bounty hunter could attack you to collect the reward for taking you alive or dead. On the other hand, if you decide to help people and earn an honest living, you can travel quietly and some people could help you if you get IGNORE INTO trouble.

Without a doubt, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a very good attempt to get IGNORE INTO the lifestyle of the old west in the most authentic way possible. If you were always amazed by the stories of cowboys and wanted to become one, this game is definitely for you.
