San Gil is a small city located in the province of Santander in the north-eastern part of Colombia and it’s considered the tourist capital of the area since 2004 due to its facilities dedicated to adventure. 

Rafting

One of its most important touristic activities is rafting, which consist of traveling through rapids in small boats. The Fonce River, which passes through San Gil, is perfect for this and has various categories of torrents seeking to meet everyone’s expectations.  

Rafting is allowed for kids 10 years or older; the travel time is approximately of an hour and a half making it the perfect activity for the whole family.

Bungee Jumping

San Gil also offers the possibility of Bungee Jumping from a 70 or 50 meters high platform. People can also go rafting and, in the middle of the adventure, stop to experience even more adrenaline. It is recommended that this activity be done by those without muscular, bone, or back problems.

The minimum weight is 50 Kg and maximum is 95 Kg.

Speleology (caving)

San Gil has 2 natural caves perfect for speleology. “Cueva de La Vaca” and “Cueva del Indio” are two perfect places to explore and discover some of the most majestic mysteries of nature. Inside said attraction, the explorers can see stalactites and stalagmites, and a wide variety of bats.

Paragliding

Near San Gil is the majestic Chicamocha Canyon, the second biggest canon in the world, just behind the Grand Canyon in Colorado, USA. Due to this natural condition, the region is an adequate place for paragliding and also to appreciate the beauty of Colombia from above.
