The arrival of James Rodríguez at the Qatari club Al-Rayyan was probably the first time that many Colombians found out about the existence of the Qatar Stars League. But, like many other Colombian players, James goes where the money takes him and, sometimes, these are often places far removed from our beloved Latin America.

It is for this reason that today we want to show you a few Colombian players who are playing, with various levels of success, in some of the most remote leagues in the world.
Jhon Córdoba- Premier Liga (Russia)
Born in Istmina, Chocó (west coast), at this moment Córdoba is very far from home, playing for Krasnodar in the Russian league. Jhon has played for this team since July this year, where he has achieved five goals and three assists in nine appearances. It seems that they have been doing well, as Krasnodar is currently fifth in the standings.

Juan Fernando Quintero- Shenzhen FC (China)
Although he is currently training in Colombia, Quintero is officially a player for Shenzhen FC of China. Even though he has only been there since 2021, he is already regarded as the MVP on the team. In 14 games played, the midfielder has achieved 6 assists and has led his team to third place in their group.

Giovanni Moreno-Shanghai Shenhua (China)
Perhaps the most successful Colombian in the Asian giant, Moreno has played with Shanghai Shenhua since 2012. The current team captain has twice won a national title, in the 2016/2017 and 2018/2019 seasons. Moreno has already played 260 games with his team, in which he has scored 84 goals and 39 assists. A true example of a successful player abroad.
