Trump voters still want that wall… even if they have to pay for it!
At the campaign trail Donald Trump, most cheered mantra was “Build That Wall”; It was a call to action on immigration policy, especially towards United States neighbor to the south.
At the presidential nomination speech Trump stated "Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and higher unemployment for our citizens, especially for African-American and Latino workers.”
Recent polls say that Americans have change their view on such wall; The constant rise on its construction and maintenance costs, far above the $12 Billion Trump said in his campaign, and the mere logistics and land lost that it would imply, makes this wall less and less desirable to most of the american people.
When asked “Do you believe President Trump’s immigration policies are improving America's economy?” only 1 in 3 (30.3%) agreed, with less than 15% strongly agreeing. The results also show that women agree less with the statement, with over 54% disagreement. And only 20% of young people think that Trump’s policies are on track
But then, Who agreed with Trump? Trump Voters. The loyalty of his base still strong, with over 70% of them still supporting his immigration policies.
The other question is How much would you pay for it? And the answer here is interesting, Over 80% understands that Mexico won’t pay for the Wall, and as such the cost will be for the taxpayers.
59% of the surveyed said they would pay $0, they just don’t want the wall. 12% said that up to $10 billion.
But what really was interesting, is that the 21.5% that said that not amount would be enough, basically sign a blank check for the wall, contains families who earn more than $200,000 annually. 63.6% of those high-earners who want the wall wouldn't cap the costs.
