Do you want to prevent ovarian cancer? Aspirin may help
An important scientific study concluded that consuming aspirin in low doses may be the way to reduce ovarian cancer
Research published by the Jama Network in early October, says that the consumption of aspirin in low doses is related to the decrease in the chances of suffering from ovarian cancer. According to the report, the possibility of suffering from this type of cancer decreases by 23%, which is very encouraging. Let's see a little more about how they came to that conclusion.

The results of the study
During the investigation, health data were taken from more than 200,000 adult women at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Of those, 1,054 developed ovarian cancer. The researchers analyzed the drugs they consumed and divided them IGNORE INTO four groups. Some of them took aspirin in common doses of 325 milligrams, others took it in lower doses. Another group consumed nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs known as NSAIDs without acetone and finally, a fourth group took acetaminophen in the usual doses.
In the analysis, it was found that those who took the lowest dose of aspirin were less likely to have ovarian cancer, while the group of women who consumed the standard dose of aspirin did not see these numbers decrease.
On the other hand, the same study came to the conclusion that those women who used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in amounts greater than, or equal, to 10 tablets per week saw a slight increase in their risk of ovarian cancer.
In this regard, Dr. Shelley S. Tworoger, who is a gynecologist specializing in oncology, participates in the Cancer Epidemiology Program and is the author of the study, states that "we are not at the stage where we could recommend that daily use of aspirin reduces the risk of ovarian cancer, we need to do more research, but it's definitely something that women should discuss with their doctor."

What are the most characteristic symptoms of ovarian cancer?
The American Cancer Society published on its website cancer.org what are the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
Some of them are:
• The abdomen swells as there is a marked abdominal distension.
• It's likely to suffer from a very severe abdominal or pelvic pain.
• The person has problems eating food and feels full even if she had eaten very little.
• Urgent urination (urge to urinate similar to what feels with urinary tract infections) or going to the bathroom more often than normal.
It is likely that these symptoms are not obvious in all women or that they manifest once cancer has spread or metastasized. However, in case of any doubt, it is good to carry out the necessary checks to verify the good health of our reproductive organ.
Consult your doctor about the necessary annual gynecological studies and do not stop doing them all. It is better to be safe than sorry, and these controls can literally save your life.
