Early on Friday, a tropical front passed through the center of the Bahamas generating winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph). The system is expected to discharge between 50 and 100 millimeters of rainfall during the day, the United States National Hurricane Center (CNH) said.

There is an 80% chance that the climate front will gain strength until it becomes depressed or even tropical storm Humberto in about the next 24 hours, as it advances at a speed of 9 kph over Bahamas, in a course that the it would lead to Florida, the CNH said.

Authorities issued a tropical storm warning for northwestern Bahamas, which includes areas hit by a hurricane in Abacos and Grand Bahamas, according to the Miami-based weather center.

The frontal system would charge speed on its way to the northwest on Friday and that arriving on Saturday in Florida, which is under a tropical storm warning, meteorologists said.

On September 1, Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas with a 5 intensity on the Saffir-Simpson scale and maximum sustained winds of 298 kilometers per hour, making it one of the most powerful cyclones in reaching land since records have been made.

Still, Friday's storm is not expected to produce the level of devastation caused by Dorian.

Some 1,300 people are still missing on the islands, according to the Government in Bahamas, so emergency services are focused on search and rescue to provide food, water and shelter.
