The shared medal
In the men's high jump final, a truly unprecedented moment happened. Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi and Qatar's Mutaz Barshim came in first place after several hours of competition on Sunday. The two athletes, who are good friends, were given the option to work things out with a tiebreaker. However, Barhsim had a better idea: to share the medal. This is how both went with a gold medal and strengthened their friendship in the eyes of the world.
