The end of the year is always a good time to remember what happened over the last 12 months. We already talked about the movies and books that marked this year, now, one week before the end of 2022, we review what were the trends that marked the fashion industry.
Miu Miu And Cropped Clothes
The designer Miuccia Prada marked a before and after this year with her spring/summer collection, which she presented in October 2021 and is made up of very high-cut skirts and blouses. Once the season arrived, and as expected considering that it is the mind of Miuccia Prada, the style invaded social networks and magazine covers. The garment that wore the most was the miniskirt, which has been used by celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, Emma Corrin, Sydney Sweeney, Bella Hadid, and Rosalía, among others.
The collection and the skirt, in particular, were so successful that searches for the brand increased by 49% and the style had its own Instagram account, called @mimiuset, which has recorded the reception of the collection.
This trend resonates with the turn of the 2000s and the use of undercuts to highlight flat stomachs.
The Body Print
We saw it at the shows, on celebrity social media, in clothing store windows, and the streets. The body print was rocked in 2022, and it all came thanks to Glenn Martens and his work for the couture label Jean Paul Gaultier, who presented the fall 2022 collection, which featured the body print. which alludes to Cyberbaba, the spring 1996 collection designed by Gaultier himself.
Martens' designs used the anatomy of lean, muscular female and male bodies through a trompe l'oeil effect and were the face of Y/Project, a conceptual brand born from a collaboration between Martens and JPG.

Barbiecore
The Barbiecore phenomenon was so powerful this year that it led thousands of chain stores to change their trends. Everyone's favorite doll has always been a fashion icon, and Barbiecore is not something new in 2022, the Barbie aesthetic has been present in the world of entertainment since movies like "Lifesize", starring Tyra Banks or "Legally Blonde”, starring Reese Witherspoon. Paris Hilton, representative par excellence of the 2000s, was also one of the forerunners of this phenomenon in fashion.
But 2022 was the peak year for this aesthetic thanks to two very particular reasons, first of all, we find Valentino'sfall-winter 2022 collection by Pierpaolo Piccioli, which is completely pink. After the show we saw celebrities like Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Dua Lipa wear pink Valentino ensembles. Secondly, this year the live-action Barbie movie was announced, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robie. These factors increased searches for pink clothing, accessories,s, and objects by 416%.
Very Big Pants
A return to the 2000s aesthetic has marked the 2020s, so wide-booted and oversized pants were expected to be back in style. But this trend did not stay with the width that we saw in the 2000s, rather it grew and even transformed, making the cheeky but baggy pants fashionable, which were finally established for the autumn-winter season thanks to the collections and catwalks of Max Mara, Giorgio Armani, Tranoi and Louis Vuitton. The main colors are beige or sand, due to how easy it is to combine, likewise, it is being used with basic white skeletons or glued shirts.
