Goodall, as a girl, had the dream of dedicating herself to studying wildlife and traveling to the African continent to live with the animals and tell stories about them. So when she was old enough to decide what to do, she didn't falter and took off on a plane to the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve in Tanzania to study the resident primates.

Today thanks to Googall, there is a national park and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), which was established in 1977. Today it is also dedicated to spreading the importance of wildlife conservation.
