Mortal Kombat is more alive than ever. The new film adaptation of this violent video game saga managed to captivate the gamer community, as the film respects the essence of the most classic installments and was able to bring the frenzy and action of the fights to a new level.

The good reception from fans and specialized critics led to the confirmation of several sequels for the future. Faced with this situation, we decided to review the best video games of a saga that has more than 25 installments.

Mortal Kombat 4

The seventh video game in the franchise was a real revolution at the time. Released for arcade machines in 1997, it was soon adapted for the original PlayStation, encouraging users to buy the machine to enjoy an innovative title.

MK 4 was adapted to the technologies of other successful fighting titles, such as Virtua Fighter and Tekken. Although the 3D was not so polished, this feature gave new power to the saga, since it was possible to see digitized fighters with interactive scenarios that marked a before and after for the franchise.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon

Released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, this title represented a dream for many fans at the time: the possibility of having almost every character that ever appeared throughout the previous installments.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon featured 63 selectable characters, which was a revolution for that time.

Mortal Kombat II

Released for the year 1993,  this title made many fans fall in love with the franchise. This installment emerged a year after the overwhelming success of the original story.

The visuals were refined, the soundtrack also lived up to expectations, the gameplay became more frantic, and the possibility of having more characters to control caused many to debate who their favorites were.  The developers also added a significant blood quota and many fatalities were improved.

Mortal Kombat (2011)

Released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, this is the ninth installment of the franchise, where the two-dimensional flat style and three-dimensional graphics were maintained, but taken to another level.

MK11 pays tribute to the entire past of the saga, as this installment was intended not only to be violent but also fun. The redesign of the characters now allowed us to see many details that, in their time, due to technical limitations, were impossible to implement.

Mortal Kombat X

This 2015 title has already sold more than 11 million copies, which made it the most successful of the brand.

Released in 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One, it was characterized by a huge variety of game modes, with brutal scenes and highly addictive gameplay. All this, of course, without forgetting the exquisite online mode, which was polished to perfection and invited all players to put their knowledge to the test with each fighter.

Mortal Kombat 11

The latest Mortal Kombat game is, at the same time, the best exponent of the essence of the entire saga. Released in 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, the first thing you notice is that the graphic section has been completely improved. This applied not only to the physical characteristics of the characters but also to the environments.

However, one of the main successes of this video game is that it is completely balanced: there are enough amounts of humor, adventure, frenzy, and, of course, violence. With 37 characters available, it is perfect for all those who want to get started in this franchise and do not know where to start.
