Here are five bestseller books that were written by women during 2019, according to Amazon and The New York Times, that you should read in this new decade.

If one of your New Year resolutions is reading more, we have created a list of five best sellers of last year written by women that you should dig into in 2020. Between romances, mysteries and literary fiction, there is something in this list for every type of reader.
1. The Testaments, Margaret Atwood: the author started writing the sequel of “The Handmaid’s Tale”, in which the religious right has taken over and gone wild, in 2017, soon after Donald Trump moved to the white house. As she said, she decided to return to the repressive world of Gilead because the repressive world had returned to her.
In her first public comments on the book, Atwood said that “instead of moving away from Gilead, we started moving towards it, especially in the United States… For a society that claims to value individual freedom, I would say to them, evidently you don’t think this individual freedom extends to women”.
2. Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive, Stephanie Land: in this book, Stephanie Land describes her own experience working as a maid in the United States, pulling long hours in order to feed herself and her daughter. Stephanie writes about what it is like to serve the middle class, giving a voice to the servant workers.
3. City of Girls, Elizabeth Gilbert: "Life is both fleeting and dangerous, and there is no point in denying yourself pleasure or being anything other than what you are”. The author of Eat, Pray, Love comes back with a great novel about love in New York City during the 1940s. According to Amazon, this story is written from the perspective of an older woman that looks back on her youth and explores the topics of female sexuality and promiscuity.

4. Three Women, Lisa Taddeo: in this book, Lisa Taddeo captivates readers through the exploration of female desire. Based on nearly a decade of reporting, the author talks about the sex lives of three North American women: Maggie, a 17-year-old girl that has a forbidden relationship with her married English teacher; Lina, who craves her husband`s attention and affection but gets it from a man she met online and Sloane, a woman happily married to a man that enjoys watching her having sex with other men and women. What's so great about this book is that it lets us, women, know that we are not alone and that sexuality is not a sin.
5. She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement, Jodi Kantor y Megan Twohey: this book, from the two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters that wrote first about Harvey Weinstein’s treatment of women, describe the impact of their reporting for the #MeToo movement and the journey of some of the women that decided to speak up.
