Who was Karl Lagerfeld?
Always accompanied by celebrities such as Katy Perry, Bella Hadid or Cara Delevigne, one of the most loyal, his catwalks gave, in each week of fashion, what to talk about. As well as his constant appearances with important figures in the world of fashion as Donatella Versace (Versace), Jeremy Scott (Moschino) and Anna Wintour (the editor of Vogue).
He began his career as an assistant to Pierre Balmain, the French designer of the fashion house Balmain. After working in different firms, he came to Chanel in 1983, following in the footsteps of Coco Chanel, who had died 10 years ago. There he has been working since 2004, he has collaborated with his firms with warehouses such as H & M, Macy's and Falabella, the most recent one, in which he used his personal brand, Karl Lagerfeld.
Lagerfeld said in 2011 for CNN "I'm a 'label' walking. My name is Labelfeld, not Lagarfeld." This phrase can get to synthesize what this designer was for the world of fashion. In addition, he will be remembered, not only for his contributions in fashion, but for the way he thought and said things. His phrases will be remembered as iconic, although on some occasion, he denied the importance of his legacy.
His life, beyond the classic but innovative catwalks of Chanel for years, was always a mystery. According to multiple media, such as BBC, there was never clarity about his date of birth, or about his parents, beyond knowing their names.
Thanks to the legacy that he will leave, the fashion industry today is in mourning, so many celebrities, including models, designers and influencers have presented tributes on their social media accounts, including their fashion houses.
