WandaVision ended its first and possibly last season on a high. HobbyConsolas described the last chapter as a "closure that the story deserved" since it manages to explain several of the unknowns of a plot that is atypical and surprising, even by the standards of the world of Marvel superheroes.
Now that this production is finished, it remains to be seen what is next for the future of this important saga. Especially considering that several of the things that happened in the history of WandaVision are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself and that they could affect future events.
What's next in Marvel after WandaVision
The first thing to clarify is that surely the series will not have a continuation. A clue of all that could be seen in the name of the episode: "The end of the series", which would indicate that no more seasons will be planned. On the contrary, everything that happened could be explored in future series and movies where Wanda and Vision are not protagonists.
One of the first issues has to do with the Doctor Strange sequel film, which would have a broad connection to the WandaVision universe. In the second post-credits scene of the series, we saw that the Scarlett Witch used her magic to learn more about the Darkhold book, with the intention of bringing back her children… and probably Vision.
Precisely, that would be the starting point of the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the second film starring the actor Benedict Cumberbatch that will be released in 2022 and that would have in its direction the mythical Sam Raimi, who had already been in charge from Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man movies.
For the future of the franchise, this means several important things. In the first place, that the protagonist of this series herself acquired enormous power, which means really remarkable progress. Until the arrival of this production, this character seemed to have a power that had not been exploited, which is why there was enormous untapped potential.

However, now the opposite occurs: with the possible mentoring of Doctor Strange we could be in front of one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. For this reason, we must also take into account one of the most interesting confirmations that will be added to the cinematographic world, which is that of the X-Men films.
At Marvel Studios they decided to introduce mutants through a new project, which would be called The Mutants. Because Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019, it gained access to the rights to these superheroes. We had already had a nod with the appearance of Evan Peters in WandaVision, who "reprised" the role of Pietro, Wanda's brother.
However, to the disappointment of fans, he did not end up being the same character from another universe. Rather, he was a mere citizen controlled by the witch Agatha Harkness. That would indicate that, in the future saga of X-Men films, the actors will be new and it will be a true reboot of these superheroes.
For this reason, the character of Wanda could be the key to the integration of the new superheroes within the MCU. Even thanks to her magical knowledge, there would be the possibility that she herself (with the help of Dr. Strange) could open portals to the other multiverses, which would explain the chance that the different versions of Spider-Man appear in the third headband.
Ultimately, WandaVision laid the foundation for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a very special way. Precisely, now not only the movies will be counted, but also the rest of the productions for Disney Plus, as is the case with the series. Therefore, both the future broadcasts of Loki or Falcon and the Winter Soldier could also give us more clues about the continuation of this story.
