The prestigious list presented by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) highlights the best goalkeepers of the late 20th century and the run of the 21st. The list is headed by the Italian Gianluigi Buffon, but within the prestigious ranking there are several Latino goalkeepers who marked an era both in clubs and in national teams.

These goalkeepers have been standing out over the years, thus becoming a fundamental part of the history of Latin American soccer. It should be noted that in this list, in addition to those already named, several Brazilian goalkeepers have been awarded like  Julio César, Dida y Claudio Taffarel. An aspect that confirms the superiority of this country with respect to the rest of the South American countries. On the other hand, the role that Óscar Córdoba has played for Colombian soccer has been crucial, recalling his achievements as a player for Boca Juniors, Argentina, and the Colombian National Team.
