Roger Federer Announces his Retirement from Professional Tennis

The world of tennis and sports today received one of the saddest, yet inevitable news: His Majesty Roger Federer announces his retirement from professional tennis. According to the Swiss, his last appearance in a professional tournament will be the Laver Cup in London. With which he will conclude more than 24 years of professional career.
Who is considered the greatest male tennis player in history (equals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in Grand Slam titles) leaves behind one of the largest legacies in the history of tennis and high-performance sports. To his showcase, he adds more than 103 ATP singles titles, 8 in doubles and a record of 1,251 wins and 275 losses in singles and 131-92 in doubles. Among the most outstanding titles of the born in Basel, are: 6 Australian Opens; 1 Roland Garros; 8 Wimbledons; 5 US Opens; a doubles gold medal in 2008; an individual silver medal in 2012; and 1 Davis Cup.

The news was shared by Roger himself on his social networks in an official statement in which he thanked his wife, his children, his parents, coaches, rivals and fans.
This is not the only sad news from world tennis in 2022. Along with the Federer news, this year Venus Williams also announced her retirement from high-performance competition. Venus is also considered by many to be the best female tennis player in history with 49 WTA singles titles, including 7 Grand Slam singles and 14 doubles, making her the person with the most titles in the 4 main competitions in tennis.
