Throughout the year, various documentaries have been presented about the singer's life and the legal problems she faces with her father that fueled the creation of the movement called #FreeBritney. This is the case of the New York Times production released in February this year entitled Framing Britney Spears, which exerted social pressure on the famous singer's legal dispute and even forced Justin Timberlake to offer an apology.

However, the new Netflix production portends a greater impact by revealing never-before-seen information about the troubled life of the pop princess.

Britney vs. Spears

This documentary created by American filmmaker Erin Lee Carr addresses the troubled relationship between Britney and her father, James Spears, over the past 13 years. The production investigates the singer's psychosocial problems, legal controversies and the start of #FreeBritney.

More and more film productions connect the public with legal scandals. This trend gained strength thanks to streaming platforms and subscription television services, whose content has focused on media cases in history through audiovisual adaptations such as films, series and documentaries.

The people vs. OJ Simpson

First season of the anthology series created by Ryan Murphy tells the story of one of the most controversial trials, called "Trial of the Century", against former American football player OJ Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) after the murder of his wife and his lover who unleashed a desperate chase and an unforgettable lawsuit.

The production is available on online platforms such as Netflix.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

This drama, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, chronicles the events of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago, where a group known as the Chicago Seven were indicted on charges of conspiracy and inciting a riot by organizing a protest against The Vietnam war.

The six time Academy Award-nominated film is available on Netflix.

Allen vs. Farrow

Documentary directed by filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, tells the story of one of the most controversial cases in Hollywood, which hit the famous director Woody Allen after the accusations of sexual abuse against his daughter, exposed by Allen's ex-partner, Mia Farrow.

The film production can be watched on the streaming services of HBO Max.

Erin Brockovich, A Bold Woman

Film directed by Steven Soderbergh, tells the story of Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts), a divorced mother of three children with difficulties in accessing a job. After losing a lawsuit for compensation due to an accident, Erin is employed as an assistant to the attorney handling her case. You will soon discover a legal mess involving the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and will do everything possible to do justice.

The film, inspired by the life and work of environmental activist Erin Brockovich, is available on Netflix and Claro Video.

Philadelphia

Film directed by the late filmmaker Jonathan Demme, tells the story of a homosexual lawyer, played by Tom Hanks, who was unjustifiably fired by the prestigious law firm where he worked, after being accused of incompetent. But the real reason is his sexual orientation and fear of the disease he suffers: AIDS.

The film, inspired by the case of New York lawyer Geoffrey Bowes, is available on major online platforms such as Amazon Prime Video.
