The dismissal and subsequent capture of Pedro Castillo does not occur in a new context in Peru. Most of the last ex-presidents today live in a similar situation. Some face corruption crimes and others for human rights violations.

In addition to the corruption scandals that several former presidents are facing, there are also several members of the opposition being investigated.
