No person can doubt the role of education in society. But that does not prevent us from analyzing the structure and current role of schools, which seem not to adapt to the times and the way of learning that new generations have.

This can be seen with the quarantine, which implied the need for teaching through virtual platforms. However, something that should be used to take advantage of the comforts of being at home, is a problem for many people. For example, the Río Negro website mentions that virtual education is a problem for students with disabilities since it is difficult to maintain conecctions at a distance.

In this situation, some specialists wonder if the world is ready to have a total virtual education. For El Cronista, “generating a drastic and unplanned move is much more complicated than previously thought”, since it is necessary to adapt at once which implies a gradual transition towards a new way of educating that adapts to the new demands. Let's see how it could be.

How to adapt high school to the times?

The fact that many students cannot adapt to virtual courses does not mean that the traditional system is perfect, quite the opposite: it has many potholes that were hidden, but which in the end come to light. The first thing we have is that current generations grew up with the technology around them. The vertical structure imposed for many years, where teachers are the ones who know and teach students, is no longer useful, at least not in many ways. Information is within a click, so the role of the teacher should be rethought.

In this sense, the newspaper El Sol de San Luis mentions that distance self-managed education could “get us out of a hurry” due to the impossibility of returning to classes. However, in one way or another, all students must understand by their own means what teachers provide. That is, they, in the vertical structure, they provide them with knowledge, but it is the students who must make the efforts to understand them.

Therefore, focusing education on a format in which the teacher provides knowledge is outdated, since information can be easily found on the Internet. On the contrary, the teacher's role should be to accompany, in a practical way, the individual training of each of their students, exploiting their abilities in the field in which they feel most comfortable or where they have the most capacity.

Also , the hour load of the “normal” classes can be challenging for the students, who do not always consider that education is something that is done for pleasure, but many take it as an obligation. Even, Forbes goes so far as to mention that brands "only have 8 seconds to capture the attention of generation Y", so, applied in the field of education, the idea of spending hours in a class results in an inevitable loss of interest.

As new litters of students were born in the era of technological immediacy, schools should become friends with new virtual teaching platforms. The idea is not, as at present, to abolish the physical teaching role, but to adapt it. If young people pay attention in short periods of time, it is vital to teach quickly and bluntly,
