Leer en español: “Crear o morir”, el futuro laboral de América Latina
The future is arriving. Thanks to the robotics revolution, many jobs could be lost in the near future. Midweek anticipates that 2.8 million Colombian workers could lose their jobs after the pandemic, due to the health crisis that accelerated the production of artificial technology.
Robotics creates new possibilities for jobs that are not currently considered essential. For example, the Castellón Información website comments that waiters are one of the possible solutions for business. In other words, since efforts will be made to minimize contagion, the idea of using technology in our favor can be good for health care.
However, will all technology have benefits for workers? In the book Create or die, the Argentine journalist, Andrés Oppenheimer, highlights some of the keys that will help Latin America to undertake. If technology has never been able to "take off" today, the era of robotics may be a key moment to take advantage … or die trying.
Create or die, a vision for the future of Latin America
The application and improvement of technology implies new possibilities, but also uncertainty. This is portrayed by the newspaper Hora Hora, which comments that robots can save companies in the short term, although, after the crisis, it could cause massive unemployment.
In this situation, the author considers that innovation is the only way out to open the way to the world of the future and to face the challenges that this entails. At first, Oppenheimer begins to wonder why a Steve Jobs did not exist in Latin America, in addition to questioning the reasons why figures such as Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg were able to achieve worldwide success.
This could not only be observed on a single occasion, but these personalities are constantly devising new strategies to adapt to the market. For example, Millennium media mentions that Facebook has already released the Facebook Pay option, which will allow money transfers through WhatsApp, which could change the way we operate commercially.

Another very important aspect for Oppenheimer is education. To understand why the United States generates these personalities, we must see what the educational system is like, which it describes as "solid and modern." On the other hand, in Latin America we continue to insist with traditionalisms that do not point towards creativity, but towards the repetition of what already exists.
To achieve this, all those who want to excel in the future will depend on motivation. Caracol comments that Andrés Oppenheimer believes that "the powerful of the future will be the most creative and motivated", which is why it is increasingly important for new generations to take advantage of current technology to "squeeze" their creatives and not be displaced by machines in routine work.
Finally, the book highlights that the field of innovation not only refers to the field of business, but also to other fields, such as soccer. For example, Josep Guardiola created a new way of directing, associating his players and creating a unique philosophy that others later sought to imitate. This allowed Infobae, for example, to consider that his Barcelona was "the best team in history", not only for its titles, but also for its significance.
Therefore, the idea that one can “transcend” and achieve something unique, which does not currently exist, should be what saves Latin America from the near future of labor automation. If it can be created creatively, we will be ahead of machines and technology because they will be our allies, as in Silicon Valley. Otherwise, the dark future of job loss will be a reality.
