Virtual education takes over Latin America

Various reports have revealed that 6.4% of the current enrollment fees are being channeled to virtual education

Virtual education
Virtual education has taken a significant role in various universities of Latin America and the Caribbean. The change in public policies towards online learning has developed a new view on virtual schooling and technological advances.

In Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Cuba there seems to be a strong governmental push to promote online education provided by either public or private institutions.

Virtual higher education has already become an important reality in the new panorama of the region. According to the UNESCO, its rates have increased by 30% in the last year. These are evidently higher than the historical expansion rates of traditional face-to-face education.

This augmentation can be linked to the increase in online education offered by universities in the region such as the University of Buenos Aires and the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

One aspect that obstructs the complete implementation of long distance schooling, in different Latin American universities, is that educational policies vary from country to country. This means that there is no standard regulation when it comes to online learning.

Nevertheless, virtual education has given the opportunity to 984,000 Latin American students, with different economic backgrounds, to accomplish a higher level of education turning them IGNORE INTO professionals according to the “La educación superior a distancia en América Latina y el Caribe”.
