The Conmebol ordered that the two final matchs be played without fans of the visiting team, to avoid the already characteristic outbreaks of violence that affect their soccer. The score goals of the Xeneizes were from Ramón Ábila and Darío Benedetto, while Lucas Pratto and Carlos Izquierdoz (autogol) score the goals for the Millionaire team.

The match was going to be played on Saturday, November 10, but Conmebol suspended the match due to the torrential rain that fell on Buenos Aires.

In the 53 previous editions of the Copa Libertadores, the oldest continental club tournament in America, the protagonists of the Argentine Super Classic had never faced each other in a final.

After studying its opponent for a few minutes, River Plate decided to take the reins of the match during the first stage. However, in the minute 34, Ramón "Wanchope" Ábila, of Boca Juniors, scored a goal after shooting twice at Franco Armani.

They had not finished celebrating when Lucas Pratto, of River Plate, found a bad defense and scored on the soccer goal by Rossi with a cross shot, marking the equalizer of the match.

Rossi became the figure that save their soccer goal on more than one occasion and, thanks to a header by Darío Benedetto, Boca went to rest with the 2-1 in its pocket.

In the second half, a free kick by River Plate ended in error by Carlos Izquierdoz, who scored in his own goal and left the score at 2-2. In the end, Darío Benedetto had on his feet the 3-2 in favor of Boca Juniors but Armani forbade him the goal scoring.

The second match will take place next Saturday, November 24 at the Estadio Monumental, home of River Plate. This is the last final of the Copa Libertadores that is played back and forth, as the Conmebol announced that in the next edition it will be resolved in a single match at the National Stadium of Chile.

The Xeneizes are the second club with more championships in the Copa Libertadores, with six titles, while River Plate has lifted the cup three times. According to RTVE, the champion of this Libertadores will play the Club World Cup, where it is expected as a big favorite in the other part of the draw against Real Madrid.
